Carbone Scol’ERE Laval

News - Intro image

The CRE de Laval is one of the accredited training organizations recognized by COOP FA, the organization behind the Carbone Scol’ERE project. Our team members visit Grade 4, 5, and 6 classrooms in Laval to deliver workshops focused on carbon emissions and climate change.

An environmental awareness program for schools

Over the course of 5 workshops per participating class, students receive information not only about the greenhouse effect and climate change, but also about the impact of transportation and the production of everyday items, energy use, and how they can raise awareness among those around them. Participants, particularly students, are encouraged to take concrete and measurable actions for the environment.

Through its involvement, the CRE hopes that these cohorts will put their newly acquired knowledge to use in support of the responsible development of our societies.

Hundreds of children reached

Since the project’s launch, and despite the challenges and necessary adaptations brought on by the COVID-19 crisis, the number of participating classes has continued to grow. In 2023–2024, nearly 30 classes, including 599 children, took part in our workshops.

Become a project partner

In Laval, our program already benefits from the support of key local stakeholders.

A partnership agreement with the Caisses Desjardins of Laval made it possible to roll out the Carbone Scol’ERE project in 10 additional classrooms starting in winter 2021.

The City of Laval is also one of our partners. Each year, the City commits to funding this innovative environmental education project for up to 10 classrooms.

Purchase Educational Carbon Credits and support the project

Help us expand the project to more schools by purchasing Educational Carbon Credits generated by students who complete their challenges and offset some of their GHG emissions. Visit the Carbone Scol’ERE project website and select the amount of educational carbon credit that corresponds to your or your company’s emissions.

At checkout, be sure to select CRE de Laval from the list of partner organizations.

About…

Carbone Scol’ERE is the first GHG emission offset option in education recognized by the advisory committee led by the CRIQ. It aims to foster real behavioural changes that are measurable, verifiable, and cumulative. It offers two options:

  1. Reduce GHG emissions by having students and their families take on challenges after a 10-hour classroom-based workshop series (the “I commit” component).
  2. Offset GHG emissions by purchasing Educational Carbon Credits generated through the avoided emissions from the “I commit” component. A unique, scientifically quantified and verified offset unit (“I offset” component).
