Free virtual conference : Let's set ecodistricts in motion... together!

News - Intro image

Laval en transition, Coalition Climat LAVAL and Conseil régional de l'environnement de Laval  are happy to invite the population to the fourth of a series of free, virtual conferences that are all about... ecodistricts! During this conference, virtually meet sustainable planning adepts as they discuss infrastructure types and urban planning principles that should be favoured for eco-districts.

Conferences included in this project will be offered until the end of 2021 and many different themes related to ecodistricts will be explored. The main goal is to provide citizens with tools so that they are able to suggest recommendations and contribute to the land use planning of new ecodistricts in their area.

Health, mobility, environment: the watchwords!

An eco-district should benefit directly the human health and attract dynamic and eco-friendly businesses to ensure its sustainability.

In this context, what are the infrastructure types that an eco-district should have to support human, business and institution mobility? What types of transportation, street configurations and architectures should we prioritize? What are the strategic choices in the planning of an eco-district to make sure motorized and active modes of transportation can coexist while reducing car use ''by default''?

During this conference, virtually meet sustainable planning adepts as they discuss infrastructure types and urban planning principles that should be favoured for eco-districts. Following the presentations, a question and answer period will allow participants to discuss with our panelists regarding the social, environmental and economical benefits of creating several ecodistricts in Laval! We are also very glad to count on the support of Société de transport de Laval (STL) for this event!

This conference is part of the Vire au vert citizen mobilization initiative, which aims to place the environment at the very center of the municipal elections.

Did you miss any of the three previous conferences?

The first conference examined general concepts of ecodistricts, so that participants are better prepared for the more specific themes to come in the conferences to come. The second one looked at the relationships between environmental quality and health. The third one was focused on reconciling economy and environment. You may watch them again on CRE de Laval's YouTube channel (in French).
