A Special Occasion
Come celebrate the 30th anniversary of CRE de Laval with a free lecture on "degrowth" (décroissance) presented by Yves-Marie Abraham, a professor at HEC Montréal. Join us on September 15 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Collège Montmorency.
After defining the concept of "convivial degrowth," the lecture will present the key arguments for championing this idea. Beyond the fact that a "green economy" is not feasible, the talk will demonstrate that it is also undesirable when viewed through the lens of Quebec society's fundamental values. Finally, it will outline potential pathways for a transition toward a post-growth world.
About Yves-Marie Abraham...
Yves-Marie Abraham teaches and conducts research on the subject of sustainable degrowth. After co-editing *Décroissance versus développement durable : débats pour la suite du monde* (2011) and *Creuser jusqu’où? Extractivisme et limites à la croissance* (2015), he published a personal synthesis on degrowth titled *Guérir du mal de l’infini* (2019). He heads the graduate program on degrowth offered by HEC Montréal.
